For an additional cost, Shields Auto Glass offers dynamic ADAS calibrations when needed. During most windshield replacements, we do not disconnect, reposition, or directly disturb the vehicle’s camera or sensors. Because the camera remains secured in its original position, calibration may not always be necessary. We’ll review your vehicle’s requirements and discuss any recommended calibration with you before adding the cost.
You don’t need to stay for the entire appointment — just the beginning and the end.
We ask that someone be present at the start to release the vehicle, confirm details, and give our technician access. Once we’ve finished, we’ll need someone present again at the end for payment (if paying in person) and to go over aftercare instructions and warranty details.
This makes the process simple while still keeping your vehicle secure and ensuring you have everything you need once the job is complete.
Rock chip repairs are usually quick — about 15 to 20 minutes per chip. The goal is to stop the crack from spreading by sealing it with resin. Please note that the repair will improve the appearance but may not completely disappear. After the repair, your windshield will be structurally reinforced and safe to drive immediately.

ARRIVAL & PREP
Our team will arrive within your scheduled arrival window. Every installation is completed according to Shields Auto Glass procedures, under the leadership of an Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC) certified professional with more than 10 years of industry experience.
VEHICLE CHECK & INSPECTION
We’ll verify your vehicle information, confirm the correct glass, and protect the dashboard, paint, and surrounding areas. Please park the vehicle in a safe, accessible location with at least five feet of clearance on all sides. During hot weather, a shaded area or garage may be required to protect our technicians, materials, and your vehicle.
REMOVAL OF OLD WINDSHIELD
The damaged windshield is carefully cut out and removed using professional auto-glass tools. Our team takes precautions to protect the vehicle’s paint, body, interior, cameras, and sensors throughout the process.
SURFACE CLEANING & PREP
The existing adhesive is trimmed, and the windshield frame is inspected for visible rust or damage. The bonding area is then cleaned and prepared with the appropriate products to create a strong, secure seal.
NEW WINDSHIELD INSTALLATION
The new windshield is precisely positioned and installed using professional-grade urethane adhesive that meets applicable safety standards. Most windshield replacements take approximately 30–60 minutes, although the time may vary depending on the vehicle and installation requirements.
AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
A minimum one-hour safe drive-away time is generally required after installation. The exact time may vary depending on the adhesive, temperature, humidity, and vehicle.

When the installation is complete, we’ll ask you to inspect the vehicle and confirm it was returned in satisfactory condition. We’ll also provide your warranty information and aftercare instructions. For your convenience, we accept cash, credit or debit cards, and Affirm financing.
No. While we do our best to fit customers in quickly, same-day appointments are not always guaranteed due to travel time, weather, and existing scheduled jobs. When you book online, the time you choose is a requested slot, and we will follow up to confirm or reschedule as needed. This ensures our technicians have enough time to safely complete each job without rushing.
We use OEM-spec glass, which means it’s made to the same exact safety, quality, and fit standards as the original glass your vehicle came with.
The only difference is that it doesn’t carry the manufacturer “name brand” logo, which helps keep the cost much lower while still giving you factory-quality glass.
